Programs & Projects

The programs and projects of Joseph Outreach are the heartbeat of the organization. This is where the work gets done. This is where philanthropy flows. Each program/project is carefully created and/or selected (partnerships) to support the mission and overall goal of Joseph Outreach.

REEMERGE SC

REEMERGE is a 6-12 month reentry program committed to helping formerly incarcerated citizens manage the reintegration process. The goal of the program is to promote a higher quality of life through employment, coaching, and entrepreneurship. REEMERGE assists clients with employment options, identification, expungements, and basic job readiness skills. They also utilize coaching, training, and entrepreneurship sessions to help participants earn a living wage or attain business ownership.

Clients who are interested and meet the selection criteria may participate in tailored Kauffman FastTrac® business courses. Each session equips them with the fundamental tools needed to create, launch, and successfully operate their own small business. REEMERGE coaches each participant throughout the completion of their courses and will continue to work with individuals during their first year as a Reemerge participant.

Rural Development

Initiative Study

The Rural Development Initiative Study was conducted on the South Carolina Promise Zone (rural, underserved counties of Allendale, Bamberg, and Barnwell, South Carolina). The initial purpose of the study was to explore the feasibility and economic viability of constructing and staffing a centralized, healthcare facility with emergency services.

However, during the research process, a centralized facility of similar nature, named Bamberg Barnwell Emergency Medical Center shifted the study to assess potential gaps in service and additional offerings the new facility could provide to better meet the needs of the community.

After six months of research and data review, three options (select read more to review these options) were outlined to provide for various unmet needs of the community such as; primary care, behavioral health physicians, other medical service providers along with the EMS.

Book Drive

Over 300 books were collected to support the the SC Rally for Reading Book Drive. The collected books were donated to Richland School Districts One and Two for the Backpack Food Program. Each week, students who are at risk for being hungry over the weekend receive backpacks filled with child-friendly, nutritious, easy-to-open food along with donated books.

This successful rally resulted from the partnership and collaboration efforts with Books-A-Million and various local small and large businesses within the community.
